Braided space buns are super popular right now. I know I see them all over my insta and pinterest feed all the time. I am just as obsessed with them as everyone else, I just don’t know if it would be as cute on me, so I decided to recreated it on my daughter. This style is easy enough that it made it painless for the both of us to get through it lol. My skills are not necessarily centered on doing hair, but with a little more patience I was able to pull this one through. My daughter has thick 4c hair (I think it’s 4c) and this style is great because it keeps her hair protected but it also cuts down on my time getting her ready in the morning doing her hair.
I should have taken pictures for a tutorial, but I just wasn’t thinking. So I’ll try my best to explain the process for this style. It was super easy.
Step 1: Detangle and separate hair into two sections. This will serve as the top braid going back, and the second section will serve as the braids going up.
Step 2: Cornrow each section of hair and then tie into two ponies.
Step 3: I used Kanekalon braiding hair to achieve the buns. I cut the hair in half (each pack is usually about 80″ long) and tied each piece in half with a hair tie. After that I tied the hair onto the ponies and braided the Kanekalon hair and pined into place.
Step 4: Use some gel or edge control to get those baby hairs on fleek!
I am actually VERY surprised at how well this whole thing turned out lol Got me feeling like I can really tackle this whole hair styling thing. I would say this took me about an hour (since I’m a pretty slow braider and she’s “tender headed”). I think this braided space bun style might be out go to for this summer. Super easy and low maintenance, just how I like it.
