Box braids using the rubber band method has to be one of the best styles ever! It makes it so much easier to get ready in the morning and it keeps our hair protected! This style is great for adults and kids alike.
With the new year in full effect, I think everyone has all of their goals and resolutions set in place, and for myself one of my goals is to take better care of my natural hair as well as my daughter’s. She is currently texlaxed and much like before her hair and scalp can get extremely dry in the winter. Living in MN doesn’t make things any easier since winters are so brutal.
So the best way I thought to keep her hair more manageable and would allow me to moisturize her scalp with more ease would be through braids. Latched and Hooked was kind enough to send us some braiding hair and this is the magic that we made happen.
Now let me just say this, I’m no braider, so when I couldn’t get her to the shop I had to take matters into my own hands. I can do simple styles like this one, and my daughter always loves it. I’ve braided her hair before and now that I recall I tried to do some similar braids on her hair years ago and they turned out super suspect lol. But this time I was pleasantly surprised with the results!
I used the rubber band method. Box braids using the rubber band method is when you section the hair into squares or triangles, and use a plastic rubber band to secure these sections. This allows the braiding hair to grip to the rubber band and not the hair itself. It made braiding SO much easier!!!! The start of a braid is always the hardest for me, and if the foundation of the braid is not neat, the whole thing will look messy!
This Latched and Hooked 2 toned ombre braiding hair was super easy to work with. I’ve used their hair before and absolutely loved it, so I knew we wouldn’t have any issues. My daughter picked the blue for herself and I got the purple (which I will do a post on the style I chose soon). Since I had different plans for her hair initially, I ran out of hair for this so we added some of the left over purple I had. I was a little skeptical about mixing the colors at first but it turned out fine. She looks like a cute little unicorn lol.
Needless to say my daughter is in absolute love with her new hair!!! And quite honestly so am I. Thank you Latched & Hooked for hooking us up with this fund braiding hair (pun intended lol).
HOW DO YOU THINK I DID? ARE YOU DOING ANY PROTECTIVE STYLING THIS WINTER?
